Combat in Black Myth: Zhong Kui is a high-speed, precision-based martial arts system blending historical Tang Dynasty Daoist exorcism, the Seven-Star Demon-Slaying Sword, and floating spell talismans. Unlike Black Myth: Wukong’s staff combat, Zhong Kui wields sharp bladed edge arts, spiritual sealing talismans, and the soul-devouring Nether Gourd.
Key Combat Philosophy
Zhong Kui relies on Fluid Stance Transitions, Perfect Evasions, and Talisman Detonation. There is no passive shield block β survival demands active parrying with your blade and tactical talisman casting.
The Three Taoist Sword Stances
Similar to Wukong’s staff forms, Zhong Kui can switch seamlessly in real time between 3 distinct Seven-Star Sword combat stances:

Best For: Swiftly accumulating Spirit Focus points and cutting down swarms of lesser underworld spirits.

Best For: Breaking boss poise, severing demon limbs, and staggering heavily armored Hell Judges.

Taoist Talismans & Exorcism Spells
Zhong Kui equips 4 active paper talismans on his belt. Casting a talisman consumes Spirit Qi:
- π₯ Cinnabar Flame Seal (ζ±η 符): Hurls burning seals that stick to enemies, dealing continuous Fire Damage and melting physical armor.
- β‘ Celestial Thunder Seal (δΊι·η¬¦): Summons lightning from the heavens to inflict heavy Poise Stun on fiends.
- βοΈ Ghost-Binding Chain (ηΌι¬Όη΄’): Paralyzes demonic foes for 4 seconds, opening them to a critical blade execution.
- πΆ Nether Gourd Void (ε¬ιθ«): Inhales enemy spirit essence to restore Zhong Kuiβs health and boost attack power.
